Some Facts about Keyboard
Hi everyone! Today I am going to tell some facts about computer keyboard. So let's get into it.
1. Space bar
When we use spacebar, 6,00,000 people around the world hit spacebar. Yes it's because spacebar is mostly used by people to begin new paragraphs etc.
2. Q W E R T Y keyboard
Do you know why there are Q W E R T Y keyboards but no A B C D.. keyboards ?
Well the first Q W E R T Y keyboard(Typewriter) invented by Christopher Latham Sholes as a new design for keyboards that started as A B C D.. . It was a solution to slow people down because people typed fast which lead to jamming of the mechanical parts of the type writer.
3. Keyboards are dirty
Studies shows that our keyboard contains more germs than toilet seats. Yes this is a fact. So wash your hands after using your keyboard.
4. Fastest Typist
Currently the official world record is held by Barbara Blackburn. But unofficially Sean Wrona set the world record. These is an ongoing debate as to how to measure typing speed because it depends on the language used.
5. Typewriter
The word Typewriter can be typed by using only the first row of the Q W E R T Y keyboard.
6. The famous Shortcut
The famous shortcut used in keyboard is Ctrl+Alt+Del. It is used to soft boot in windows. This combination was chosen because it was impossible to use this combination with one hand on the IBM PC 5150 keyboard.
7. Bumps on F and J keys
Ever thought why in most of the Q W E R T Y keyboards there is bump ( small horizontal line) on F and J keys?
These are made for ease for typists. Place your left index finger on F and right index finger on J then either of your thumbs will rest on the spacebar and remaining fingers will cover A S D and K L keys. This helps in typing without light or looking in the screen and typing.
8. When we Type
When typing, the fingers travel approximately 1 mile for every 10,000 words.
9. Hakcers
Hackers can track every key you press by using softwares called keyloggers. If your keyboard gets infected by a keylogger whatever you type can be tracked by hackers.
10. Keyboard Vs Mouse
Commands from keyboard are processed faster than commands made from the mouse. It is because using the mouse the computer should check the coordinates of the pointer etc.
